Due to the nature of their business, Epic Games has a need to consistently and effectively connect with their customers and individual software developers with best practices for online learning when using their technology platform. These connections are meant to engage their target audiences to increase adoption of Epic’s own Unreal Engine. Because of this, the Epic Games team knew that to remain competitive and build loyalty, they were going to need more than just a website. They needed a digital destination that would enable better, more meaningful interactions with their users, so they engaged BlueBolt to implement SAP’s Litmos Learning Management Software (LMS).
Share knowledge, best practices, and updates consistently and effectively with their customers and individual software developers
Engage their target audiences to increase adoption of a specific product: the Unreal Engine
To remain competitive and build loyalty, they needed an online learning system that would help users engage and adopt their software as their preferred gaming choice
Epic Games engaged BlueBolt to implement the SAP’s Litmos to create their Unreal Engine Online Learning platform, a custom Learning Management System (LMS) that provides resources for users and educates them on their software tools and offerings. Specifically, Epic Games needed a much more efficient way to provide platform training and manage their educational content. They wanted to provide an easy way for users to track their progress and understand requirements, all while getting the information they need to strengthen their skills.
Their SAP Litmos LMS website offers individualized learning paths according to user industry, user role, workflow, and engine concept. All videos and classes are categorized by level of expertise and type of video. Videos are also grouped together into series called classes that are organized in chronological order.
The Unreal Engine Online Learning platform was built using Litmos LMS. BlueBolt built an SSO authentication solution that enables users to log on to the LMS with their Epic Games accounts. In addition, BlueBolt customized the Litmos front end design using available methods for injecting CSS/JavaScript.
Through the work that BlueBolt provided, Epic Games was able to provide a significantly enhanced and intuitive experience for developers seeking to engage in a training path with the Unreal Engine. Prior, the content was disparate and it was not easy for an end user to navigate the necessary courses and learning to accomplish their goals with the platform. Further, with the new SAP Litmos LMS platform built by BlueBolt, administrators within Epic Games have a much easier time uploading content and creating the course path for their global audience. The new Learning Management platform has been launched globally, with multi-lingual capabilities and developers engaging and learning around the world.
